Tottenham open talks with Man Utd target Ratcliffe
In the win against Nottingham Forest, Ange Postecoglou praises Tottenham’s poise.
According to reports, Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo is a target for Tottenham during the January transfer window. Ange Postecoglou is eager to strengthen his defense next month, and a number of signings in that area have not been ruled out. Several possibilities are now being considered.
The excellent performance of new signing Micky van de Ven was a major factor in Spurs’ incredible start to the season. Along with James Maddison, the Dutchman made an immediate impression in the Premier League and established himself as one of the summer’s top additions.
Spurs, who have played several games this season with a back four composed of fullbacks, are searching the market for reinforcements since the former Wolfsburg star is not anticipated to return until early 2024.
Tottenham wants to sign a center back with football as soon as possible in the January transfer window.London is claiming that talks have been place over the signing of France international Todibo. With several suitors in Europe, Spurs think the 23-year-old’s willingness to play out of the back would make him the perfect match for Postecoglou’s style.
This season, Nice has been led by Todibo, and with the team now ranked second in Ligue 1, it seems as if Nice may challenge Paris Saint-Germain for the championship.
Spurs will thus need to submit a substantial offer to try to gauge Nice’s commitment, especially from Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The owner of INEOS, who is expected to acquire a quarter of Manchester United shortly, acquired the French team in 2019 and has made significant investments to support the development of young players at the team.
Todibo is not only being pursued by Tottenham, however; Erik ten Hag of United is also keen in the 23-year-old, as he needs a new center-back in January to take Raphael Varane’s position. Newcastle is also said to be interested.
Ratcliffe has been given the ideal chance to establish his dominance over United during the Red Devils’ pursuit of Todibo. He has done so by granting Ten Hag’s request for a transfer, enabling the defender to join Tottenham, who are vying for a league spot that is comparable to his childhood club.
Ratcliffe’s 71-year-old viewpoint may outweigh the drawbacks of the transfer, since he would not permit the club to sign a much-needed center-back without his approval, even though letting a top talent join a direct rival would not appear to benefit the team.
