Tottenham now in advanced talks to agree deal which ‘can be completed within weeks’
Amanda Staveley is reportedly interested in purchasing a stake in Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the year.
For some time, Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy, has been searching for a new investor to help the club grow.
Levy aims to secure financial backing that aligns with his vision for the North London team, ensuring continued development and success.
His goal is to find an investor who can not only inject capital but also provide long-term support for his strategic goals.
A source close to the situation told The Mirror, “Amanda is serious about being involved with Spurs, and is hoping that an initial purchase can be completed within weeks.”
While there have been discussions with various potential investors, no definitive agreements have been reached.
However, it appears there may be significant progress in talks with Staveley, a well-known figure in football investment circles. She played a key role in brokering Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund’s £305 million acquisition of Newcastle United.
Staveley, along with her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, held influential positions on Newcastle United’s board following the Saudi-led takeover.
Despite their success with Newcastle, their departure from the club was a difficult one. Now, the couple appears to be exploring new opportunities, with Staveley eyeing a return to the Premier League.
This time, she aims to buy a minority stake in Tottenham with the backing of investors from the Middle East. Her ambition is to finalize the deal before the year ends.
Levy would likely be interested in such a deal, as it would provide Tottenham with much-needed financial reinforcement. This potential investment would also give Levy greater control over the club’s future.
Currently, Joe Lewis’ influence on Tottenham has diminished, with his shares being held in a family trust. The introduction of a new minority owner could be a positive step toward securing the club’s financial stability and long-term success.
Staveley and her husband were seen as guests at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during a match against Brentford, further fueling speculation that discussions are at an advanced stage.
The prospect of new investment in Tottenham appears promising, with Staveley’s involvement potentially marking a pivotal moment in the club’s future.
If successful, this deal would position Tottenham for further growth and could enhance their competitiveness in both domestic and European competitions.
For Levy, the arrival of new investors could be the financial boost the club needs to continue its upward trajectory, while aligning with his long-term vision for Spurs.
