Tottenham now set to miss out on wonderkid as other club swoop in to agree deal

Another club has agreed to a January deal for a highly-rated young player, so Tottenham will not be able to get the player they want for boss Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs are still busy with transfers.
After getting Timo Werner, a great creative midfielder from RB Leizpig, on loan with the option to buy, Spurs also paid £25 million to sign Radu Dragusin as a regular player.

The two additions, which happened earlier this month, give Postecoglou a lot more options as he tries to lead his team to a top four finish and qualification for the Champions League. Before this month, Tottenham didn’t have a lot of backup behind their regular starting eleven. This was especially true at center back, where both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero missed a lot of time.

Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy, technical director Johan Lange, Chief Football Officer Scott Munn, and the rest of the transfer team moved quickly to bring in much-needed players in January. This is very different from years past when different managers were in charge.

Many news sources say that Tottenham is also in talks to sign Antonio Nusa from Club Brugge on a buy-to-loan-back deal. This is the same type of deal that brought Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr to north London last season.

Even though Spurs have been busy and have also completed a lot of loan deals for players, they still don’t seem to be done as deadline day approaches.

A lot could depend on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and whether Levy can get the Dane to leave permanently this month. Postecoglou is thought to want to sign a new playmaker. There are still rumors that Postecoglou is very interested in 23-year-old Chelsea star Conor Gallagher, which has led to links between Spurs and the midfielder. However, Royal Antwerp star Arthur Vermeeren is one player they are not likely to sign.

Set to miss out on Vermeeren, according to Tottenham

In the past few months, Spurs fans have grown fond of the Belgian player, and there were rumors that Spurs were planning to sign Vermeeren.

The 18-year-old has become more well-known thanks to his great play at Antwerp this season, but he now seems to be moving on to another team. According to many sources, including writer Graeme Bailey, Tottenham will not be able to get Vermeeren because Atletico Madrid has agreed to a deal to get the player.

This season, the youngster has played all 21 league games for Antwerp as a constant in the middle of the field. He said goodbye to his club last night as he gets ready to move to Spain.
