Tottenham now intent on signing £100k-p/w star who Pep personally wants at Man City
Having secured a loan extension for Timo Werner, Tottenham Hotspur are claimed to be “intention” on aiming for a £100,000-per-week Man City target.
Spurs continue seeking to increase forward alternatives after Werner’s signing.
Before it had started, Spurs formally revealed their first summer deal on Tuesday evening as the Lilywhites signed a contract extending Werner’s loan term from RB Leipzig by another year.
Originally joining on a half-season temporary contract from Leipzig in January, the 28-year-old had the option to make it permanent for roughly £15 million, but the new terms let Tottenham retain Werner for an extra full season for just the cost of paying his full £165,000-per-week wages.
If Daniel Levy, the chairman of Spurs, wants to sign Werner permanently, the revised arrangement also entitles him a discount. Indeed, Tottenham now have a choice to purchase Werner for around £8.5 million next summer, a significant decrease on the past price.
Timo Werner’s best league games for Spurs last season | Match Rating (via WhoScored) |

Although there are questions about the former Chelsea player’s careless finishing at times, Werner started well at Spurs with two goals and three assists in a few of his first top tier appearances in North London.

Manager Ange Postecoglou’s choice to stick with Werner would surely have been influenced in great part by his explosive speed and threatening inclination in the attacking zones. Tottenham has signed him down for another term, but credible media sources suggest fans will probably see further offensive acquisitions come this summer.
Among other top Premier League names, Spurs have registered a rumoured interest in Wolves winger Pedro Neto to improve Postecoglou’s wide options. Technical director Johan Lange will have to find replacements should Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil leave Tottenham this summer.
Tottenham want to acquire Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze
GiveMeSport also notes another player drawing attention from N17: Crystal Palace standout Eberechi Eze. Man City and Chelsea also want the Englishman, who last season scored 11 goals and earned four assists for Oliver Glasner’s side.
Though Tottenham is eager to get Eze this summer and willing to fight for his signature, Pep Guardiola is said to be personally pursuing the winger. At Selhurst Park, Palace supposedly value him at approximately £60 million for any interested parties, on a reputed £100,000-per-week.
