Brentford seems to be willing to let go of Ivan Toney for just £40m this summer, and Tottenham Hotspur seems eager to seal the deal.
You know how it is with Spurs, always on the lookout for fresh talent. This summer, they’ve got their sights set on snagging a new number 9 striker, and Toney’s name is right up there on their wishlist.
Now, there was talk before about Toney going for a whopping £60m, which had everyone scratching their heads. But hold onto your hats, folks, because the latest buzz is that Brentford has softened up on their demands. They’re now looking at a more modest £30-40m price range.

Toney’s had a bit of a rough patch lately, what with serving a ban for part of the season and only netting four goals in his last 17 games. That’s put a dent in his value, no doubt about it. Word on the street is that Pete O’Rourke has spilled the beans on Brentford’s “surprise” price tag. Forty mil seems to be the magic number that could lure Toney away from the Bees, although Brentford isn’t exactly doing cartwheels about it.
But hey, Toney’s no slouch when it comes to putting balls in the back of the net. He’s been called a “ready-made goalscorer,” and if Spurs manage to bag him, he could be making waves up in North London in no time.
With his contract running until 2025, the stars seem to be aligning for a move, and Brentford looks ready to cash in on the action.
Some folks reckon Toney’s as close to a sure bet as they come in the striker department. He won’t break the bank, he knows how to find the back of the net in the Premier League, and hey, he’s even homegrown. Sounds like a win-win to me, and I bet he’d give our squad a real boost.
