Fit to play – Tottenham midfielder cleared for action after assessment
Tottenham received encouraging news today concerning midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, a positive development for the club’s midfield.
The 21-year-old has been making significant strides in his breakthrough season at the club, delivering outstanding performances. Establishing himself as a key midfielder alongside Yves Bissouma, he has featured in 18 matches, contributing with two goals and two assists.
Acknowledging his consistent displays, Spurs have extended a new long-term contract offer to Sarr, a decision that was officially confirmed yesterday.
During the recent match against Bournemouth, Sarr encountered a setback. While impressively opening the scoring with a spectacular goal from outside the box, he suffered an injury and was substituted at the half-hour mark, leaving the field visibly distressed.
Post-match, the manager confirmed the setback, identifying it as a hamstring injury that led to Sarr’s emotional departure.
Despite concerns, Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick reported today that the midfielder underwent an assessment and has been deemed ‘fit to play’ for Senegal in the upcoming AFCON starting next week.
This development serves as positive news not only for Senegal but also for Tottenham, which has grappled with a series of injuries recently, contributing to an ongoing crisis within the squad.
The hope now rests on Sarr’s safe and injury-free return from the tournament, allowing him to swiftly regain his excellent form and resume his impactful contributions for Spurs.
