Tottenham line up new midfielder after agreeing Dragusin deal
Tottenham Hotspur is keen on adding a number eight to their squad, with Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher topping their wishlist.
With the £30m move for Radu Dragusin, Spurs have secured two out of three targets for this window, signing Timo Werner on loan from Leipzig as well.
Despite a relatively quiet transfer window, Tottenham is focused on securing a midfielder between their match against Manchester United and the FA Cup fourth round against Manchester City.
Ange Postecoglou is eyeing a dynamic midfielder who can lead the midfield and also provide an alternative for James Maddison if needed.
Gallagher seems to fit the desired profile, and Chelsea is open to negotiations for the right price, which could potentially reach £50m. However, complications could arise as Gallagher is a key player in Mauricio Pochettino’s tactical setup and perfectly suits his 4-3-3 system.
Gallagher is relishing the added responsibility at Chelsea, recently captaining the side in the absence of key players like Reece James and Ben Chilwell.
The deal for Dragusin took time but was eventually sealed after extended talks, with Genoa initially standing firm on their £30m asking price.
