Tottenham Hotspur are wasting little time in the transfer market as they look to steady their season and address a growing list of problems within the squad. Reports from Spain suggest the North London club have now made a formal move for Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz, submitting a bid believed to be in the region of £52 million in an effort to bring the attacker to the Premier League.
This interest comes at a time when Spurs have been hit hard by injuries across several key areas of the team. Since the opening weeks of the campaign, fitness issues have disrupted any sense of rhythm or continuity. James Maddison’s season has effectively been cut short after suffering a serious knee injury, leaving a huge creative gap in midfield.
Dejan Kulusevski has yet to feature at all this term due to his own ongoing problems, while Dominic Solanke only recently returned to action after a spell on the sidelines, making his comeback in the FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa.

The situation has worsened in recent weeks. Rodrigo Bentancur has now picked up a hamstring injury that requires surgery, ruling him out for several months and further weakening an already stretched midfield.
Mohammed Kudus has also suffered a setback and is not expected to return until around the March international break. With so many important players unavailable, Tottenham’s lack of depth in attacking and creative positions has been exposed, forcing the club to act.
According to the report, Spurs have identified Brahim Diaz as an ideal solution, particularly as cover and competition in the wide and central attacking roles.
The 26-year-old has struggled for consistent minutes at Real Madrid this season, and with his contract running until 2027, the Spanish giants are reportedly open to selling him if the right offer arrives. Tottenham’s bid appears to test Madrid’s willingness to cash in now rather than risk the player’s value stagnating.
Diaz returned to the Santiago Bernabeu after a successful three-year loan spell at AC Milan, where he developed his game and showed flashes of real quality.

Over the past two seasons, he has largely been used as a rotational option, often coming off the bench rather than being trusted as a regular starter. That pattern has continued this season, limiting his opportunities to make a sustained impact at club level.
However, his form on the international stage has told a very different story. Representing Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations, Diaz has been in outstanding form, scoring five goals in five matches and currently leading the tournament’s scoring charts.
In doing so, he has outperformed notable names such as Mohammed Kudus and Victor Osimhen, reminding everyone of his sharpness and attacking instincts when given a central role and regular minutes.
Naturally a right winger, Diaz is also comfortable operating as a number ten, making him a flexible option for a Tottenham side desperately in need of creativity and goals. His technical ability, close control and eye for goal would add a different dimension to Spurs’ attack, particularly at a time when so many creative players are unavailable.
Importantly, Diaz is no stranger to English football. Having come through the ranks at Manchester City earlier in his career, he already understands the demands and pace of the Premier League. At 26, he is also entering what many consider to be a player’s prime years, combining experience with peak physical condition. That blend makes him an attractive target for a club looking to make an immediate impact rather than a long-term project.
For Tottenham, securing his signature would be seen as a major statement of intent, especially given the current struggles on the pitch. It would offer Thomas Frank another attacking option capable of changing games and easing the burden on the remaining fit players.
The challenge, however, will be convincing Real Madrid to let him go mid-season and fending off any potential competition from other clubs who may also be monitoring his situation.
Whether this deal is completed in January or pushed back until the summer remains to be seen. What is clear is that Tottenham are actively searching for solutions and are willing to spend significant money to do so.
If they manage to land Brahim Diaz, it could prove to be one of the most important moves of their season, offering hope of a stronger second half of the campaign and a much-needed lift for a squad battling adversity.
