Tottenham in £12.7m transfer ‘talks’ as clear timeline set for Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham have already been very busy in the summer transfer window with three new signings and six exits announced.

Earlier this week the club’s latest two deals were officially confirmed with Archie Gray arriving from Leeds United and Joe Rodon heading the other way after a superb loan spell at Elland Road.

Over the weekend, Spurs kicked off their preparations for the 2024/25 season with Gray joined by Lucas Bergvall and Timo Werner as new signings spotted at Hotspur Way. Forgotten stars such as Manor Solomon and Sergio Reguilon also reported for pre-season with Destiny Udogie, who picked up an injury in April, captured for the first time in three months.

Though Postecoglou will be focused on upcoming training sessions, the Spurs boss and technical director Johan Lange are looking to bring in some more new faces over the coming weeks. Jacob Ramsey and Eberechi Eze are two attacking targets with Tottenham holding a strong interest in Desire Doue, as football.london understands.

With all three likely to cost upwards of £50million, further exits could be needed and one of those may have just gotten much closer. AC Milan are interested in signing Emerson Royal this summer with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano issuing a huge update.

On X, formerly Twitter, he wrote: “AC Milan are prepared to send new bid to Spurs for Emerson Royal as they hope to get the deal done next week.

“Proposal will be in excess of €15m (£12.7m), talks between clubs to continue. Emerson wants Milan move, as revealed in May; he’s already agreed on five year contract.” With personal terms clearly not an issue, Spurs now look as though they just need to agree on the final details of a deal with AC Milan.

If Postecoglou can obtain funds in the region of £15million, it would certainly be a decent return given Emerson’s mixed tenure in north London. The arrival of Gray would have also impacted his minutes in the first-team and therefore an exit is certainly the best outcome for both parties.

Though the £40million fee for Gray seems expensive, it could be considered three-quarters of that given Rodon’s £10million move to Leeds. If Spurs can also secure roughly what AC Milan’s next planned bid is for Emerson, it could be argued that the exciting teenager cost the club just £15million.
