‘Get him out’ – Tottenham expert wants Ange to sell ‘Complete Disaster’ as transfer news emerges
John Wenham, host of the renowned Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, has called for Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to sell midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, labeling his time in North London a “complete disaster.”
Recent reports from Spain suggest that Atletico Madrid and Real Betis are vying for the Argentinian’s signature.
According to Fichajes, both Atletico Madrid and Real Betis are keen to acquire Giovani Lo Celso. Betis, in particular, is eager to bring back the midfielder and has already initiated contact.
However, they must first make room in their squad, with Nabil Fekir likely to d
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, John Wenham didn’t mince words about Lo Celso’s stint at Spurs. “Lo Celso has been a complete disaster for Tottenham,” Wenham stated.
He emphasized that Lo Celso’s performances for Argentina don’t matter to Spurs fans; what matters is his contribution in a Tottenham shirt.
Wenham expressed confidence that Lo Celso would excel in Spain, where he previously thrived, but insisted that the Premier League is not suited to his style of play.
With just one year remaining on his contract, Lo Celso is not considered a vital part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans for Tottenham. The club faces a critical decision: sell him now or risk losing him for free next summer.
Wenham believes the best course of action is to offload the player this transfer window, drawing parallels to Tanguy Ndombele’s similarly disappointing tenure at the club.
Failing to sell Lo Celso would be a significant financial setback, given the substantial investment made in the player.
Fortunately, there is interest from other clubs, and Levy must seize this opportunity to recoup some of the funds. With interest from clubs like Real Betis and Atletico Madrid, Tottenham is in a strong position to negotiate a sale.
Giovani Lo Celso’s time at Tottenham has not lived up to expectations. As John Wenham suggests, the best move for both the player and the club is to facilitate a transfer back to Spain, where Lo Celso has previously enjoyed success.
By doing so, Tottenham can avoid further financial loss and focus on integrating players who fit Postecoglou’s vision for the team. Daniel Levy must act decisively to capitalize on the current interest in Lo Celso and make a strategic move that benefits the club in the long term.
