Tottenham could now sign ‘elite’ striker for less than £30M this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a new striker this summer. Manager Ange Postecoglou is keen to strengthen his attacking options amidst uncertainties surrounding Richarlison’s future.

Reports suggest that Spurs are open to offloading the Brazilian forward if a suitable offer comes in.

Heung-min Son had an impressive season, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists in the Premier League. Despite his success in a central role, Tottenham still lack a natural No.9 following Harry Kane’s departure last summer. This has led to continuous links with various strikers as the club seeks a new talisman.

Several high-profile names have been linked with a move to North London. Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres are among the notable targets.

However, each of these players is likely to command a significant transfer fee, making them potentially costly acquisitions for Tottenham.

According to BBC Sport, Lille striker Jonathan David has emerged as a promising target for Tottenham. Due to his contract situation, David could be available for less than £30 million this summer. With his contract entering its final year, the Canadian star is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea.

Jonathan David has consistently impressed for Lille, maintaining a high goal-scoring rate. Last season, he scored 26 goals in all competitions, surpassing Heung-min Son’s tally for Tottenham.

The 24-year-old forward has been described as an ‘elite’ striker and is currently competing with the Canadian national team at the Copa America.

David’s prowess extends beyond club football. At the international level, he has scored 26 goals in 49 appearances for Canada, showcasing his ability to perform on the big stage.

Acquiring Jonathan David at a reduced price could be a strategic move for Tottenham Hotspur. With Richarlison’s future uncertain and the need for a natural striker evident, David’s proven goal-scoring record makes him an attractive option.
