27yr old Tottenham ace could reportedly be set for January exit

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has emerged as a potential target for Fenerbahce SK as the Turkish club seeks to strengthen their left-back position, according to Turkish outlet Sabah.

The 27-year-old has struggled for game time at Spurs, with his future at the club uncertain. Reports suggest that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has not included Reguilon in his plans, choosing instead to rely on Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, and Djed Spence as left-back options.

Reguilon’s situation at Tottenham has been difficult; he did not travel with the squad for pre-season and has yet to play a minute of competitive football this season.

His potential move to Fenerbahce could provide an opportunity for the Spanish defender to revive his career. Interestingly, Fenerbahce is managed by Jose Mourinho, the coach who initially brought Reguilon to Tottenham during his time in north London.

Mourinho’s familiarity with the player may increase the likelihood of a transfer, particularly as Fenerbahce is in urgent need of reinforcements following the season-ending ACL injury of their current left-back, Jayden Oosterwolde.

In addition to Reguilon, Fenerbahce is reportedly monitoring other options, including Bologna’s Juan Miranda, Lecce’s Antonino Gallo, and Atletico Madrid’s Reinildo Mandava.

All of these players are being considered to bolster Fenerbahce’s left-back position, as they seek to maintain defensive stability in their campaign.

For Tottenham, the question of left-back depth and long-term planning remains pressing. Ben Davies, while a dependable player, is now 31, and his age may soon necessitate a strategic succession plan.

Meanwhile, Destiny Udogie offers promise as a young talent, yet the club would benefit from further competition and depth in the position. Tottenham’s management should consider investing in a younger left-back who can both challenge and support Udogie as part of a long-term defensive strategy.

Several promising left-back prospects are available for Tottenham to consider. Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu has shown strong potential and could bring both defensive solidity and offensive creativity to the left flank.

Another option is Real Madrid’s Fran Garcia, an underutilized talent who possesses the qualities to thrive in a high-tempo league like the Premier League. Manchester United academy product Harry Amass could also be an interesting acquisition if his current club does not integrate him fully, despite evident talent.

Adding any of these youthful prospects to the squad would align with Tottenham’s long-term vision, adding dynamism to their left side and providing Udogie with healthy competition.

By securing a talented young left-back, Tottenham would not only enhance defensive stability but also inject offensive support and creativity on the left wing.
