Tottenham have guaranteed £43m player he’ll be put into their team if he signs in January
Jean-Clair Todibo is a name that keeps coming up when discussing Tottenham’s desire to add a new defender.
Spurs now have Todibo as a top target. According to reports, the club and Todibo have begun negotiations on a January relocation to north London.
Todibo is also said to be eager to join Tottenham provided they can work out a suitable agreement with Nice.
The Evening Standard now claims that Spurs have given Todibo some assurances, which is another turn in the tale.
Tottenham informs Jean-Clair Todibo that he will have a significant role
Tottenham has reportedly begun negotiations with Todibo and his representatives, even discussing his position on the club with him, according to a story from The Standard.
Given that Cristian Romero is certain to stay put and Micky van de Ven is expected return in early 2024, Todibo may be unsure of his exact position on the squad.
Spurs, it is said, have informed the Frenchman that he would be involved in the procedures right away and that he will play a significant role in the first team.
This indicates that Ange Postecoglou will probably employ the defender in a back four, or even better yet, as part of a three-man defense. The Spurs manager alone, of course, is aware of the answer to that.
Tottenham is drawing near
These kinds of stories don’t get published if a transaction isn’t moving forward. There is definitely a plan to trade Todibo to the Spurs.
Tottenham seems to be coming together rapidly in this regard, and it appears that Ange is putting a lot of effort toward acquiring Todibo.
Todibo will not be available for cheap at £40–43. But January seems important because Spurs need a defender and because they are competitive for the top four.
So, Todibo could be worth the money invested.
