Postecoglou to break Tottenham tradition and sign midfielder

We are excited to have Paul Robinson, a former England goalkeeper, join us as an exclusive writer. Paul will provide his thoughts on the main topics of discussion at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium every week.

Paul Robinson has said that Ange Postecoglou would disregard “tradition” if he wants Tottenham to go on with a bid for Chelsea’s “quality,” Conor Gallagher.

Although the bitter rivals of London have never before met to discuss transfers, England midfielder Gallagher is still being linked to a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Despite Gallagher being a regular under Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea is apparently willing to sell to aid with Financial Fair Play constraints, according to a report from talkSPORT on December 21. Spurs and West Ham were reportedly keeping an eye on Gallagher’s status.

Although Robinson, a former custodian for Spurs, is still sceptical that the two clubs can work together, he claims Postecoglou won’t give a damn about any animosity that has prevented the sides from meeting in the past.

“I’ve always said that these two clubs don’t do business and this is a no,” he remarked in an interview with Tottenham News.

Yet this tale is not going away; rather, it is just becoming longer. He is undoubtedly a talented player; he is the kind of guy who would provide them with an additional option by falling into the group of three behind the primary attacker.

He puts in a lot of effort, has realised his potential, is no longer a prospect, and yet has more to offer. I believe he could play much more often and yet have more to offer.

It would be fascinating to watch whether Chelsea and Tottenham reach a deal if Chelsea is open to receiving proposals. Historically, the two teams have not gotten along, have not worked together, and have not completed transactions together. There are almost as many player transfers between the two as there are from Tottenham to Arsenal, yet it doesn’t happen.

However, Ange doesn’t appear to be the kind of manager who follows convention; instead, he goes about things his own way, selects the players he wants, and plays the way he wants to. This tale won’t go away.

They may test the water whether Conor Gallagher fits into that. This narrative keeps coming back, even though I can’t see it.
