I think that Gray is just slightly ahead of Abbott in terms of his development, which we have seen during pre-season in terms of the minutes both players have played.

Therefore, I think Abbott will be sent out on loan this season and that is probably what is best for him. If he could get 40 games under his belt that would be really positive.”

Abbott has already shown his potential during his time with Tottenham’s U21 team. Last season, he captained the side to a Premier League 2 title, contributing significantly with three goals and three assists across 16 appearances.
