Three Ways Tottenham Could Secure Premier League Survival on Tuesday

Tottenham Hotspur may be able to confirm their Premier League survival before the final day of the season when they face Everton at home.

Spurs supporters are enduring one of the most uncomfortable campaigns in the club’s modern history, with the north London side still at risk of relegation for the first time in almost 50 years heading into the final two league matches.

Despite the pressure, Roberto De Zerbi’s side still control their own destiny. Tottenham currently sit two points above 18th-placed West Ham, meaning survival remains firmly in their hands.

Attention will first turn to St James’ Park on Sunday, where West Ham travel to face Newcastle United in a match that could have huge consequences in the relegation battle. The Hammers know that a victory would move them above Spurs before Tottenham travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Tuesday night.

The Three Scenarios That Could Keep Spurs Up by Tuesday

There are several possible outcomes that could see Tottenham effectively secure Premier League safety before the final round of fixtures.

Scenario One:
If West Ham lose to Newcastle and Tottenham defeat Chelsea, Spurs would move five points clear with only one game remaining, mathematically guaranteeing survival.

Scenario Two:
Tottenham would also secure safety if West Ham draw at St James’ Park and De Zerbi’s men go on to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Scenario Three:
If West Ham lose against Newcastle and Spurs manage to draw away at Chelsea, Tottenham would move three points clear heading into the final day.

While the third scenario would not officially confirm survival mathematically, it would leave West Ham needing an enormous swing in goal difference to stay up. Spurs currently hold an 11-goal advantage over the Hammers, making that scenario highly unlikely.

Newcastle Could Play Huge Role in Spurs’ Fate

Chelsea will undoubtedly be highly motivated to damage Tottenham’s survival hopes in the London derby, especially with the rivalry between the two clubs adding extra intensity to the occasion.

However, the result at St James’ Park could ultimately shape the pressure levels heading into Tuesday night. If West Ham fail to win, Spurs would arrive at Stamford Bridge knowing that even a draw could potentially leave them all but safe.

Tottenham supporters will therefore be hoping Newcastle produce a strong performance in their final home match of the season and prevent West Ham from gaining momentum in the survival race.
