Spurs set to receive financial windfall following Champions League outcome
Tottenham Hotspur is expected to get financial support after Galatasaray qualified for the Europa League’s next round, according to a report by Fotospor.
Tanguy Ndombele and Davinson Sanchez were offloaded by Tottenham to Galatasaray in the summer. The Frenchman signed a season-long loan agreement with the option to make the transfer permanent for €15 million (£12.8 million), while the Colombian joined the Istanbul team for €9.5 million (£8.1 million).
The centre defender has garnered high praise for his performances and has rapidly established himself as an essential member of Okan Buruk’s defence (Sporx).
On the other hand, Ndombele has had difficulty receiving consistent playing time at Rams Park, and some sources have even speculated that his loan period may expire early in January (Fanatik).
Spurs to get further funding
In Tuesday’s last Champions League group stage match, Galatasaray lost 1-0 to Copenhagen; Sanchez played the whole 90 minutes, but Ndombele was forced to watch from the sidelines.
As a consequence, the Danish team advanced to the next round of the tournament at the cost of the Turkish team, while Galatasaray, who placed third in Group A ahead of Manchester United, was relegated to the Europa League’s knockout rounds.
According to provisions suggested by Fotospor in the transfers of Ndomebele and Davinson Sanchez, Galatasaray will now be required to pay Tottenham when they finish their European travels.

Conditional clauses are a common feature in transfer agreements these days, so it was to be assumed that Sanchez’s move would be no different. That some of the Ndombele loan payment could have been contingent on Galatasaray’s continued presence in Europe in the next year surprises me, however.
