Very Good idea: Ex-Spurs urges Levy to now sign nightmare star with connections to the club already

A former member of the Tottenham scouting staff has pushed Daniel Levy, the club’s chairman, to recruit a certain player this summer.

Spurs are looking to add defenders

Despite Radu Dragusin’s £25 million acquisition from Genoa last month, Ange Postecoglou is reportedly eager to add additional defenders later this year.

Given his status as a backup to both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, the Romanian international will struggle to get playing time, but Spurs might be in serious difficulty if any of them misses a lot of games, like they did earlier in the season.

Romero often has to tread carefully when it comes to suspension, and the Lilywhites’ performance suffered greatly as a consequence of van de Ven’s prior hamstring injury. Postecoglou felt that Dragusin’s signing was imperative, and the team is now eager to get a new full-back.

Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie, who have both excelled as Postecoglou’s inverted full-back first choices, have a significant lack of depth behind them. Porro is followed by Emerson Royal, while Ryan Sessegnon, the left back, is expected to miss a significant amount of time due to a hamstring injury.

Spurs are said to be interested in Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters, while there have also been connections to the team’s in-form right-back Festy Ebosele in Uruguay. At only 21 years old, the latter has already made 25 Serie A appearances this season and is a full-fledged Republic of Ireland international.

Festy Ebosele was recommended to Tottenham by a former club scout

Following these ties to the defender, former Spurs scout Bryan King has now pushed Levy to acquire Ebosele, citing his connections to N17 already via Udogie, who himself moved from Udinese, in an interview with Tottenham News.

They are really powerful down the left, so it may be helpful to have some cover on the right, according to King.

“It seems like he’s the ideal player to add. Given his age and the fact that he knows enough Italian people at the club, such Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario, I think he would have no trouble adjusting.

His background suggests that he could be able to fill in for Pedro Porro and provide Tottenham’s team with extra depth. This signing seems like a smart idea to me.

Ebosele is becoming more and more well-known in Italy; experienced Derby County defender Craig Forsyth has referred to him as a “nightmare” to play against.

“The problem is that he has been improving steadily. With that last ball, it’s encouraging to watch him progress,” Forsyth said.

“There was a lot of opportunity tonight; he can still improve. He’s dangerous and a terrible opponent to play against. He can move quickly and both directions, and he is quite powerful. For a defender, he is a nightmare.”
