Spurs thought they had the next Bale, then he sapped Levy & left an awful signing

Currently enjoying success, this former Tottenham player “sapped” Levy when he was there.

Despite Tottenham Hotspur’s most recent Premier League loss at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ange Postecoglou will be optimistic about his team’s ability to end the season on a high note.

Many preseason predictions were destroyed by Spurs’ explosive start to the season, which propelled them into the lead in the title race. However, since Postecoglou made history by winning three straight Premier League Manager of the Month awards in the first three months of the campaign, progress has been sporadic due to inconsistent play.

Heung-min Son, the last of the old guard after Harry Kane was traded to Bayern Munich last summer, is maybe still the best player on the roster, despite the fact that recent additions have gone very well.

Son was one of several players who failed to find even a fraction of Son’s success during the last wave of investment that brought Spurs to the forefront. Georges-Kevin N’Koudou was unquestionably one of the worst. Son was signed back in 2015.

When Georges-Kevin N’Koudou was signed by Spurs

A year before to Tottenham’s move for N’Koudou, they signed Clinton N’Jie, a dynamic striker with enormous potential, from Lyon for about £12 million.

After only one season, he was forgotten and replaced by N’koudou in 2016. After spending £11 million to leave Marseille, the winger N’Jie signed a loan deal to join the French team before moving permanently.

Tottenham, however, made a mistake on both occasions as N’koudou, who had 10 goals and five assists in France the previous season, played the part of a flatterer.

When N’Koudou arrived, he said that two of his major influences were former Manchester United sensation Cristiano Ronaldo and Tottenham legend Gareth Bale, who shaped his style of play and gave him hope for great success in north London.

“It’s true that I watched a lot of Premier League games as a child, and I remember a few players that inspired me to come here—Gareth Bale, for example, who has played here.” the guy said.

“And there was Cristiano Ronaldo, who was a Manchester United player. They played the way I want to play, which is to dribble and attack opponents, so it motivated me.”

To be fair, N’Koudou did provide these skills; his quickness of movement and explosiveness made him an ideal match for a prominent position at a club like Tottenham.

Podcaster Chris Miller criticized the “awful signing” and said that the chairman Daniel Levy was “sapped” by the Cameroon international’s miserable return to Tottenham, scoring just one goal and dishing out two assists in 27 games across all competitions.

After a series of fruitless loan stints, N’Koudou left Spurs for about £5 million back in 2019. It’s possible that he has since rebuilt his career.

This season in the Saudi Pro League, the hero of Damac FC has finally lived up to the initial accusations that he was the Bale replication that Tottenham so much wanted, with 15 goals and four assists from only 19 league games.
