“Spurs love him” – Alasdair Gold makes exciting Tottenham transfer update regarding 23yr old

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bolster their defense in the current transfer window.

Among their potential targets is Crystal Palace center-back Marc Guehi, a player who has garnered significant attention for his impressive performances.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold reports that Spurs have a strong interest in Guehi. However, acquiring the England international might prove challenging.

Guehi’s contract with Crystal Palace extends until June 2026, and his stellar performances have attracted interest from several top clubs, increasing his potential transfer fee.

Marc Guehi has been a key player for both Crystal Palace and the England national team. Despite suffering a knee injury that sidelined him for nearly three months last season, Guehi made a strong return.

He appeared in 25 Premier League matches, starting 23, and even captained Palace on several occasions. His role in the ongoing Euros has further highlighted his value, with the 23-year-old starting in both of England’s games so far.

Gold emphasizes that Guehi’s high valuation and the competition from other top clubs complicate any potential deal for Spurs.

Currently, Tottenham are not prioritizing a high-cost center-back unless a significant player departure occurs, which seems unlikely at this point.

Responding to questions on Football.London, Gold noted, “Spurs love him but he’ll be big money this summer, chased by every top club going and Tottenham aren’t really prioritizing a center-back as an immediate big money signing this summer unless someone major left, which is not expected at this point. Also, I’d be stunned if Palace let him go on top of Olise and Eze with their release clauses.”

As Guehi remains focused on the Euro 2024 campaign in Germany, he has delayed making any decisions about his club future.

This pause provides Tottenham some time to assess their defensive options and consider how to navigate the complexities of a potential deal for the talented center-back.

While Spurs are keen on Guehi, they are also evaluating other defensive options. The club recognizes the need for strengthening their backline but must balance this with financial prudence.

With Guehi’s price tag and the competition for his signature, Tottenham may need to look at alternative solutions if a deal cannot be reached.

Tottenham’s interest in Marc Guehi highlights their ambition to strengthen their squad with top talent. However, the financial and competitive challenges associated with this transfer mean that Spurs must carefully consider their strategy.
