Spurs expected team line up vs City – Maddison decision as Postecoglou makes 2 changes

Tottenham Hotspur will play Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday. This is the team we think Ange Postecoglou will pick.

The fourth round of the FA Cup starts on Friday night, and Tottenham Hotspur will host Manchester City. Ange Postecoglou has more choices than he has had in a long time.

After being out for more than two and a half months because of an ankle injury he got against Chelsea in November, James Maddison has been back in training for the past week. Finally, Ben Davies and Dane Scarlett went back to training with Tottenham just before the game. Dejan Kulusevski is better after being sick and missing the 2-2 draw at Manchester United.

City has a lot of great attackers, but they haven’t scored at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since it opened in 2019. Since it first opened, Pep Guardiola’s team has lost all five games. At the Etihad Stadium, the teams have already played one goal-filled game this season, ending in a 3-3 draw.

Not having many important players for that game meant that Postecoglou had to play with a back four made up of only full-backs. Now that a lot of his players are back, the Australian has to decide whether to start Maddison. Letting him play would give the team a huge boost, not to mention his imagination.

If he made that choice, it would change who plays in the front three, since Kulusevski probably won’t need to play in the lower spot if Maddison is healthy enough to start. On his first game, Timo Werner set up a goal, and Spurs’ manager will have to choose between the German and Brennan Johnson, who wasn’t at his best at Old Trafford.

Giovani Lo Celso, Manor Solomon, Ryan Sessegnon, and Alejo Veliz are still out with injuries, and Son Heung-min, Pape Matar Sarr, and Yves Bissouma are at the Asian Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations. Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could be in a battle for a spot in the middle.

We think Postecoglou will choose the following team:

GK – Guglielmo Vicario

This season, Guglielmo Vicario, Son Heung-min, and Richarlison have all done great things for Tottenham. The Italian goalie might have a lot to do today, so he will need to be at his best.

RB – Pedro Porro

Pedro Porro was happy when he scored against Burnley.
The skilled Spaniard will play against the team he used to be listed with but never played for.

CB- Cristian Romero

Since Son won’t be there, the Argentine will have to step up as captain for the day.

CB – Micky van de Ven

Micky van de Ven before Spurs’ game against Manchester United. This is one of the most important games for the young Dutch player since he moved to the Premier League.

LB – Destiny Udogie

Udogie and Porro will both have to protect a lot while trying to make City play too short on the other end.

CM – Oliver Skipp

Even though he was sick the week before the game, the young playmaker did well at Old Trafford.

CM – Rodrigo Bentancur

The Uruguayan played great against Manchester United and scored the equalizer. He will need to be at his best again.

CM – James Maddison

The English player has been working for a week, and Postecoglou knows that letting him start would be good for everyone.

RW – Dejan Kulusevski

The Swede is healthy again and ready to go. He could be back in the top three.

FW – Richarlison

It will be important for the Brazilian to score his first FA Cup goal of the season. He has scored six goals in six Premier League games.
