‘Spurs at the front’ – Paratici working seamlessly in signing new Serie A star for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly setting their sights on Torino and Italy midfielder Samuele Ricci, with former managing director Fabio Paratici playing a key role behind the scenes.

According to former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains closely connected to the club, Tottenham could pursue a deal for the 23-year-old midfielder next summer.

The club acknowledges that securing Ricci in January may be challenging due to his current importance in Torino’s first team.

Fabio Paratici, who stepped down as Tottenham’s managing director in 2023, still appears to have influence at the club, particularly in recruitment.

Paratici’s exit followed a 30-month ban imposed in Italy for his involvement in financial malpractice and a capital gains scandal that also led to Juventus being docked 15 points.

Despite his official departure, much of Tottenham’s scouting and recruitment infrastructure was built under his direction, and it seems the club has maintained close contact with him.

Tottenham has a track record of successful transfers from Serie A under Paratici, and they appear to be continuing that strategy, with Ricci now emerging as a prime target.

Ricci’s performances have drawn attention from major clubs across Europe. Since joining Torino, the midfielder has earned four caps for Italy and made 85 appearances, solidifying his reputation as one of Serie A’s top talents.

His consistent displays have made him an integral part of Torino’s squad, and this season, he has started all of their opening six Serie A games, contributing to three wins, two draws, and one loss.

While Ricci’s qualities are undeniable, Robinson suggests that the move may not be a top priority for Tottenham, especially during the January transfer window.

The club has performed well under Ange Postecoglou, often deploying a 4-3-3 formation, and midfield reinforcements may not be an immediate necessity.

However, Tottenham’s interest in Ricci remains strong, with the possibility of exploring a deal during the summer window.

Robinson emphasized that, given Ricci’s age and potential, the club is certainly keen on securing his services.

At 23, the midfielder has already garnered international experience, and his skill set aligns with Tottenham’s ambition to strengthen their squad for the future.

Ricci represents a young talent with room for growth, and Tottenham’s continued success in signing players from Serie A makes him an attractive prospect.

Tottenham has had notable success with Serie A signings in recent years, and this has reinforced their interest in Ricci.

Paratici’s influence, even from the sidelines, continues to shape the club’s recruitment strategies, particularly in Italy, where he has strong ties and a proven eye for talent.

The club’s recent signings from Serie A have been pivotal, and they are likely looking to replicate that success with Ricci.

The pursuit of Ricci showcases Tottenham’s ambition to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level.

While it may be challenging to complete a deal in the upcoming winter transfer window, the potential for a summer move remains a realistic option.

Ricci’s combination of youth, experience, and proven ability at both club and international levels makes him an exciting target for Tottenham as they continue to strengthen their ranks with top-tier talent from across Europe.
