Spurs “looking at” signing £30m ex-Chelsea flop, he’s a “sensational” Werner upgrade
Spurs are thinking about going with Callum Hudson-Odoi in place of Timo Werner since he has shown greater promise this year.
In comparison to Werner, who has suffered from injuries, Hudson-Odoi has a stronger goal and assist record this season.
Given his age and potential impact on the team, signing Hudson-Odoi could be a wise decision despite any dangers.
In recent windows, Tottenham Hotspur has generally handled their transfer transactions well.
Over the past year, Ange Postecoglou has welcomed players like Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, and James Maddison into the team. Even January addition Radu Dragusin has performed well when given the opportunity to play.
There have been a few bad additions, though, with Timo Werner, a former Chelsea player, standing out as a winter addition that didn’t significantly enhance the team.

Nevertheless, according to recent speculations, the Lilywhites may be ready to bring in another former Blues star to take the German’s place; this time, things might actually work out.
Spurs considering a former Chelsea player
In a recent report, Paul O’Keefe of Tottenham Hotspur reported that the Spurs are “looking at” Callum Hudson-Odoi of Nottingham Forest “as a potential summer addition.”
In addition, O’Keefe disclosed that the Lilywhites would have to spend between £25 and £30 million to finish, which is far more than the £5 million Chelsea paid the Tricky Trees in September.
But since Werner is hurt right now and doesn’t seem like a solid long-term alternative, acquiring the Englishman could be a wise move in addition to giving them an advantage over a rival.
How Werner and Hudson-Odoi compare
The first task is to evaluate the two wingers’ respective performances. Fortunately for Hudson-Odoi, who plays for a team that narrowly avoided relegation, his production has been marginally more outstanding this season.
While Werner has only managed four goals and four assists in 28 games with Spurs and RB Leipzig, he has amassed an impressive total of eight goals and two assists in 34 appearances for Forest.

Injuries is another point where the Englishman wins the comparison.
Even though he has seen his fair share of setbacks over the years, he has only missed 21 games because of injury since the beginning of the 21/22 campaign, whereas the German has missed an incredible 36 games during the same time and is currently sidelined with another issue.
However, even while signing the Wandsworth native who was dubbed a “sensation” by U23 scout Antonio Mango is undoubtedly a risk, at only 23 years old, he may yet realize at least some of the enormous potential that prompted Bayern Munich to make a £70 million approach for him in 2020.

The 57-cap German, on the other hand, is currently 28 years old and hasn’t scored 20 goals or more in a season since 2019–20. This suggests that, although he can still contribute to the team, Postecoglou will never be able to get more out of him.
Spending up to £30 million on Hudson-Odoi after his first successful season in a number of years carries some risk, but given his age and the fact that he was once thought to be the next big thing, it might be a risk worth taking, especially for Spurs supporters who would get to witness a Chelsea wonderkid realize their potential in N17.
