You Can’t Stop Him: Postecoglou Says 22yr Old Spurs Player Has Wonderful Brilliant Technique

Brennan Johnson has received accolades from Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou for both his attitude and his superb skill.

Speaking to football.london, the Tottenham manager claims that the team’s attacker “has understood” what is expected of him both in practice and in games.

Johnson, 22, joined Tottenham last summer for an alleged £47.5 million deal, and he has already made several appearances in his rookie year.

Since joining Tottenham from fellow Premier League team Nottingham Forest, where he began the season, Johnson has played in 20 competitive games.

Due to injuries sustained elsewhere, he was pushed into the deep end early in the season and struggled at times. However, now that he’s had the opportunity to take a step back, he’s doing wonderfully.

Last week, Spurs’ £70,000-a-week attacker, Spotrac, scored a game-winning goal on his first attempt to make it 2-1 against Brighton after a brilliant counterattack.

Johnson skillfully altered his pace and opened up his body in response to Son Heung-min’s whipped pass into the centre, allowing him to connect flawlessly and smash into the net’s roof.

In addition to complimenting Johnson on his performance, Postecoglou highlighted his happiness at a goal that was both produced and scored by two different wide players.

“Maso (Ryan Mason) and Chris Davies have worked a lot with the front half guys, and a lot of our work is around that, getting our wingers or our players into goalscoring positions,” the Spurs manager said.

“Once more, this is how I’ve assembled my teams for a very long time, and he is one who has recognised that.” It’s not simple, and it differs from what he has done.

“Trying to get the timing just right, showing up on time, and using solid technique—he plays very well under duress. He demonstrated it last week as well as the previous several occasions.

“When you get that synergy between our attacking players, it becomes really difficult to stop. Therefore, it’s good that they scored a goal last week from winger to winger because they are rewarded for things we talk about and recognise as important.”

“And hopefully that keeps them searching for additional development.”

It’s fantastic to watch Johnson improving every week as a player and as a part of the Tottenham squad.

He still has his whole career ahead of him at the young age of 22. It would be interesting to see how he develops at N17.
