Rodrygo spotted in London amid Spurs link and transfer ‘boost’

Rodrygo’s arrival in London has sparked fresh rumours about his future, with growing speculation that the Brazilian star could be on the move when the January transfer window opens.

The Real Madrid winger, who is currently in the capital for Brazil’s international friendly against Senegal at the Emirates Stadium, posted a collage of photos on Instagram showing his arrival and instantly sent Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal fans into overdrive.

Both north London clubs have been long-time admirers of the 24-year-old, who has found himself facing uncertainty at Real Madrid this season.

Despite his immense talent and contributions in previous campaigns, Rodrygo has endured a frustrating spell on the sidelines, starting just two of Madrid’s first 12 La Liga games under new manager Xabi Alonso.

His reduced role has reportedly left him “dissatisfied,” according to ESPN Brazil, and a “possible departure” could now be looming on the horizon.

Rodrygo’s frustration may stem from the mixed signals coming from Madrid’s hierarchy. Over the summer, Alonso publicly stated that the Brazilian remained an “important” part of his plans.

Yet as the season has progressed, the winger’s limited playing time tells a different story. For a player of Rodrygo’s calibre one who has already played in and won multiple Champions League titles sitting on the bench has become increasingly difficult to accept.

Tottenham, who were among the clubs to express interest in the forward during the last transfer window, are believed to be monitoring his situation closely.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is known to be a huge admirer of the Brazilian’s flair and versatility, viewing him as a potential game-changer who could add pace, creativity, and end product to the attack.

The north London side were previously linked with several wingers over the summer, but Rodrygo’s availability could now reignite that pursuit.

Sources close to the player suggest that if Rodrygo were to leave Madrid, the Premier League would be his preferred destination. ESPN Brazil claim that he views English football as the next big challenge in his career, admiring both the competitiveness of the league and the attacking freedom it offers.

Arsenal were seen as favourites to sign him last summer, but Tottenham’s growing reputation under Postecoglou could make them serious contenders if Rodrygo becomes available.

Despite the transfer noise, Rodrygo has publicly maintained his loyalty to Real Madrid. Speaking to Spanish outlet AS earlier this season, he dismissed ongoing speculation about his future, saying: “Every summer, the same thing happens. People say I’m going to leave or that I have offers from this club or that club. Of course, there are always offers I won’t lie about that but I’ve always made it clear that I want to keep succeeding at Madrid.”

He went on to add that his ambition remains to win more trophies with Los Blancos. “It’s already special to have won two Champions Leagues at my age, but I want more. I’ve always said, as long as Real Madrid want me, I’ll be here. If one day they tell me to find a new club, I’ll understand but that hasn’t happened.”

Still, those close to the situation insist that the winger’s patience is wearing thin. While Rodrygo’s love for Madrid is genuine, the reality of limited minutes in a star-studded squad could eventually push him toward a move.

With players like Vinícius Jr. and Jude Bellingham dominating the attacking roles, opportunities for consistent game time have been few and far between.

For Tottenham and Arsenal, Rodrygo’s visit to London couldn’t have come at a more intriguing time. Both clubs are eager to strengthen their forward lines ahead of the second half of the season.

Spurs, in particular, see the Brazilian as a perfect fit for their fast-paced, attacking system, while Arsenal could view him as another creative weapon in Mikel Arteta’s arsenal.

The timing adds even more spice to the situation, with the North London Derby set to take place shortly after the international break. Both clubs will be hoping to make a strong impression — not just on the pitch, but perhaps in Rodrygo’s mind as well.

For now, Rodrygo remains focused on his duties with Brazil, but the whispers surrounding his future will only grow louder. Whether it’s Tottenham or Arsenal that manages to lure him away from Madrid, one thing is clear — the Premier League could soon have another Brazilian star lighting up its stages.
