Romano reveals new details on Antonio Nusa situation after move breaks down

After his transfer to the Premier League club fell through in January, Antonio Nusa will not be joining Brentford this summer. However, a number of other elite teams are still interested in signing the young Norwegian star.

For Antonio Nusa, the January transfer window was quite the rollercoaster. The 18-year-old became a Tottenham target seemingly out of nowhere, and at one point a transfer to North London seemed very much like it was in the works (The Athletic).

But then Brentford struck, seeming to have the deal all figured out. That is, until health problems derailed the agreement, raising concerns among Brentford that Nusa would not be totally fit owing to back and knee problems (Ben Jacobs).

Nusa stayed with Club Brugge when the transfer window closed, but Fabrizio Romano said earlier this month that the youthful winger wasn’t genuinely a risk for an injury.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri recently said that Brentford have abandoned their pursuit of Nusa, perhaps opening the way for Spurs in the summer.

Premier League teams are still considering Antonio Nusa

Fabrizio Romano has now released a new update that seems to confirm that, revealing that Brentford will not be signing Nusa, despite the fact that several other elite clubs—including ones from the Premier League—remain interested.

“After issues in January, Antonio Nusa’s move to Brentford remains off,” he tweeted. An oral agreement was made, and an examination was conducted in England, but the deal ultimately fell through. Premier League teams and other European teams are now again interested in signing Nusa.

I’m not sure whether I still feel the same way about signing Antonio Nusa. Although the medical issues seem to have been resolved, I’m still interested in learning more. Brentford wouldn’t have cancelled the agreement for no reason, and whenever we recruit a new player, we should be very cautious about any possible underlying injury concerns.
