Great news as agent reveals injured Tottenham ace with 98% has trained, could feature v Luton

Today, Micky van de Ven might play his first game back for Tottenham against Luton Town.

After the March international break, Spurs will play again on Saturday (30 March) when they host the Hatters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou will want his players to show some improvement after Fulham beat them 3-0 at Craven Cottage last time out. The return of van de Ven could help the Australian coach.

After getting hurt in Spurs’ 4-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park on March 10, the Dutchman missed their trip to Fulham. Reliable Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has now given a report on van de Ven’s health before this weekend.

O’Keefe wrote on X (March 28): “(Micky) van de Ven has trained, but Ange has to decide if he should save him for West Ham because Spurs have two games in three days.”

Since Radu Dragusin had a tough game against Marco Silva’s team last time out, Postecoglou will likely want to put van de Ven right back into the team. However, he needs to make the right choice in this case.

Van de Ven liked the rematch against Luton. He scored the only goal as a 10-man Tottenham team beat Luton 1-0 at Kenilworth Road on October 7.

In that one afternoon, van de Ven really made his case to the Premier League. He made two tackles, won all of his ground and air duels, and finished 94% of his passes (Sofasscore).

All three points were won by the guests that afternoon thanks to his play on defence and offence.

Postecoglou should resist the urge to play van de Ven against Luton this time, though.

A player shouldn’t be rushed back from a hamstring injury, and since this is van de Ven’s second of the season, Spurs need to be careful with his return.

Since van de Ven has played two games in three days, he shouldn’t play against Luton. Tottenham should have enough to win without him.

On Tuesday, April 2, the trip to West Ham will be much harder, and that’s when Postecoglou will need the 22-year-old, who was great on the road last time.

Tottenham got a huge three points at Villa Park. Van de Ven could only play in the first half, but his skill was clear for everyone to see.

It was 98% of the passes he made, and he made one last-man stop. It was 100% of the long balls he sent forward.

Micky van de Ven is a very important player for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.
Postecoglou wants all of his players to be like Van de Ven, who has been one of the best centre backs in the Premier League this season.

No one can doubt how good he is at playing ball. According to fbref, the former Wolfsburg player has the highest pass success rate (95.3%) of any player in his position in England’s top flight this season.

Another thing that van de Ven does well is take ons. He is in the top 7% for good take-ons (0.65 per 90), and he is also safe higher up the pitch, as he is in the 91st percentile for tackles made in the attacking third (0.18 per 90).

This season, Micky van de Ven has been Tottenham’s best player.
Postecoglou will want him to play again, but next week against West Ham should be the right time, not Luton.
