Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford, is said to be moving to North London, and Alan Hutton would love for Tottenham to acquire him during the January transfer window.
Ange Postecoglou is “optimistic” about adding a new center-forward next month, and 27-year-old Toney is being considered by Spurs, Chelsea, and Arsenal, according to a Sunday, December 10, Mirror article.
Toney’s eight-month ban from football wagering is set to expire on January 16th, so he will be available for Brentford’s use throughout the second half of the season, or whomever signs him in January, assuming that occurs.
Hutton thinks Spurs will prevail in the competition to sign the former Newcastle striker. The former right-back acknowledges that there may be financial difficulties with a prospective trade.
“I believe he will be the top target, but I believe he will be for several clubs.” He’s a goal scorer with track record,” Hutton told Tottenham News.
When he entered the Premier League, there were doubts about his ability to perform at the same level as he did in the Championship. Indeed, he has accomplished that.
“He’s there to score goals; that’s what he does; he works hard for the team, goes in behind, and covers center backs. He is an incredible goal scorer and seems to be a nightmare for opposing defenders.
If Tottenham could afford to spend the money on him, he would unquestionably improve the team. That individual is the one we are referring to, but many clubs will be seeking for someone of his caliber.
All that will matter is the asking price and Tottenham’s willingness to pay it. We will need to wait and observe.
On November 1st, Sky Sports said that Brentford is seeking £100 million for Toney in the event that they decide to sell him during the January transfer window.
The former England international has made 68 Premier League games and scored 32 goals.
