Pundit thinks Tottenham are underpaying for new star man

Basarab Panduru, former Romanian international, has criticized Radu Dragusin’s representative, Florin Manea, for accepting Tottenham’s allegedly low salary offer, suggesting that the centre-back should have demanded more. Manea stated that Dragusin turned down Bayern Munich’s offer to join Tottenham, revealing that Bayern was willing to offer a higher salary.

Reports indicate that Dragusin will earn £50,000 per week at Tottenham, placing him towards the lower end of the salary scale at the North London club.

Expressing his disbelief, Panduru argues that Dragusin’s entourage should have stood firm and demanded a higher figure, especially when two top clubs like Tottenham and Bayern are vying for the player.

Panduru emphasizes the need for effective negotiation, suggesting that Dragusin should have asked for at least €5m instead of the reported €3m, considering Bayern’s willingness to pay significantly more.

In contrast, pundit Florin Lovin disagrees, asserting that Dragusin, given his age and previous earnings at Genoa, was not in a position to demand an exorbitant salary.

Lovin suggests that it would be risky for Dragusin to request €10m, as such demands might not be realistic. He argues that, considering Dragusin’s age and background, he should not ask for an excessive amount.

The article concludes by noting that while players may start with lower salaries at Spurs, the club often revises contracts based on performance.

It speculates that Dragusin’s deal might include clauses triggering a new contract offer with a higher salary if he meets certain performance parameters during his initial period at Spurs.
