Pundit stunned by ‘Astronomical’ transfer developments at PL club amid Tottenham

Alan Hutton, a former right back for Scotland, is now our exclusive writer. Every week, he’ll give his thoughts on the biggest stories at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…

Alan Hutton says that Ange Postecoglou could make Tottenham even better by getting Conor Gallagher, even though Chelsea doesn’t see any reason for them to do so.

This month, the England international is once again linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea is said to be open to offers for the player, and Tottenham is still interested in signing him. [22 December Sky Sports]

Spurs were thought to have started putting together a possible deal for the 23-year-old during the summer window, but Chelsea decided not to sell him, so the move was shelved.

Hutton doesn’t see why Chelsea would want to sell Gallagher, especially to a rival club in the area, but he does think that the player would make Postecoglou’s team much better at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He told Tottenham News, “I think he’s a really good football player.”

“He is sometimes captain of Chelsea and was born in England, so if they sell him, they will make a lot of money.” Just look at how much money they’ve spent since Bohely went in. It’s crazy, so that’s all profit for them.

“I don’t get it from Chelsea’s point of view. I get it from a business point of view, but I think he’s been one of their best players and selling him now hurts them.”

“Then you sell him to a competitor, which is not good.” But look, I think he makes teams like Tottenham better if he goes there.

Gallagher has been an important part of Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea team this season. He has started 20 of the Blues’ 21 Premier League games and has only missed one because he was suspended after getting a red card against Brighton.

Most of the players at Stamford Bridge have had a rough season, but the 23-year-old has been one of the best. He has four assists and has been in charge of the team from the middle of the field.

People wouldn’t like it if he moved across London to play for Postecoglou’s team this month, but Spurs would get a great deal if they could make this happen.
