Postecoglou delivers Micky van de Ven update ahead of Fulham game

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has updated the injury report for Micky van de Ven.

During Sunday afternoon’s 4-0 victory against Aston Villa, the Dutch international sustained yet another hamstring strain. Despite the setback, Tottenham’s lead over their fourth-place rivals is now only two points with one game remaining.

Alongside Cristian Romero, Van van Ven opened the game and was perhaps Tottenham’s finest player in the first half. He handled Ollie Watkins’ danger with ease and often displayed his pace.

Regretfully, the 22-year-old had to be replaced by January signing Radu Radu Dragusin after pulling up only a few minutes into the second half at Villa Park. He was treated on the field.

When questioned by Sky Sports News earlier today at the team’s Hotspur Way training facility about the former Wolfsburg player, Postecoglou said it was doubtful he would be ready to play Fulham on Saturday.

“We are still kind of getting all the information,” said Postecoglou. Well, I don’t believe it’s anything serious, but he is unlikely to be here this weekend.

“It’s unlikely for Fulham, obviously, but with the international break, obviously, we’ll probably get some more information at the back end of the week. Hopefully it means he doesn’t mean much after that.”

In Our Views

If van de Ven is out for a few weeks instead of months, as was the case after his injury during Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’s defeat to Chelsea, it is a significant gain for Spurs.

Luton is the first game after the international break, so Spurs can afford to allow him one extra week to heal before the frantic stretch of games that begins in mid-April and includes Newcastle, Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
