Postecoglou says forward now injured in training, won’t play United
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has delivered unfortunate news regarding forward Dane Scarlett and his availability for the upcoming match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Scarlett will not be able to feature in the match against Erik ten Hag’s side due to an injury, as confirmed by Postecoglou.
Spurs are gearing up for a Premier League clash against Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford on Sunday. The North London club is currently sitting in the fifth position in the Premier League table with 39 points from 20 matches, trailing leaders Liverpool by six points.
Postecoglou, addressing the media ahead of the Manchester United match, revealed that the 19-year-old England Under-21 international forward suffered an injury during training, ruling him out for the upcoming fixture.
In his statement to Football.London, Postecoglou stated, “Dane Scarlett has picked up an injury as well in training, so he’ll miss out.”
From my perspective, the injury setback for Dane Scarlett is disappointing, especially considering his recent challenges during a loan spell at Ipswich Town, where he struggled to make a significant impact and was recalled early.
As a 19-year-old forward, Scarlett would have anticipated opportunities with the Tottenham first team in the coming weeks and months. However, this injury setback ahead of the Manchester United match is undoubtedly a blow for the young talent.
