Ange Postecoglou On Richarlison Applauding Everton Fans After Tottenham Victory

After Saturday’s match, Richarlison applauded the traveling Everton fans, and Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou had no problems with it.

The Toffees’ four-match winning streak in the Premier League came to an end as they lost 2-1 to Spurs in north London. Between 2018 and 2022, Richarlison played with Everton for four years, scoring 53 goals in 152 appearances and becoming a major fan favorite.

After leaving for Tottenham for a possible deal of up to £60 million, he finished Brennan Johnson’s cross in the ninth minute to open the score. In the eighteenth minute, Son Heung-min gave Spurs the lead twice.

With eight minutes left, James Garner struck the crossbar, Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a goal disallowed after a VAR review, and Andre Gomes cut the deficit. Everton attempted to get back into the match. With almost the last kick of the match, Arnaut Danjuma gave the Blues a chance to tie the score, but Sean Dyche’s team was forced to depart the capital empty-handed.

Postecoglou said that the Evertonians’ decision to go to Tottenham so close to Christmas was “great,” and Richarlison praised them for it. Reporters heard him say, “It’s fantastic on all sides. Both Richy and the Everton supporters should be proud of him for coming here.

In football, these things occur. Nobody would doubt Richy’s contributions to the Everton Football Club, in my opinion. Both the fans and he seemed to value them, in my opinion. He’s with us now, and he’s giving this football team his all.”

“Clearly the outcome is very pleasing against a very difficult opponent today in Everton, who have been the form team of the competition for the past few weeks,” Postecoglou remarked of the encounter.

You can see why tonight; apart from our goals, our football was excellent. They put in a lot of effort, and we sort of overpowered them in the first half. We were quite dangerous at first, but when we took a 2-0 lead, we gradually pulled back, which I believe gave them a chance to tie the game.

We just took a little longer to get the ball, and part of it was down to them. As a result of their persistent efforts, the game evolved into more of a transitional half in the second half.

Vic, who was excellent again tonight, had to make a few tremendous stops as well as some tenacity and solid box defense. It included a little amount of each item. Not the same kind of performance as ours. The fact that we received three points must be what pleased us.”
