Postecoglou fumes at reporter for questioning his integrity after Spurs win

Spurs secured their advancement to the subsequent round of the competition with a 1-0 victory over Burnley, propelled by Pedro Porro’s spectacular goal.

However, during his post-match press conference, Postecoglou faced queries not about his team’s triumph but rather about Eric Dier, amid reports hinting at his imminent transfer to Bayern Munich.

Dier, featuring in only four games for Spurs this season, was absent from Friday’s clash due to a training-related injury, as disclosed by the Australian manager. When confronted with transfer speculations linking Dier to an exit from the club, Postecoglou vehemently refuted the suggestions.

Responding to questions regarding Dier’s situation, the 58-year-old manager sharply retorted at a reporter, asserting the legitimacy of Dier’s injury. He adamantly stated, “Separate issue mate but don’t question my integrity. When I say he’s injured, he’s injured. He didn’t train yesterday.”

Postecoglou further reinforced his stance, asserting, “I’ve got no idea. When you ask me whether he’s injured, he’s injured. I didn’t make that up. If he wasn’t injured I’d say he wasn’t selected. It’s easy for me to say. He’s injured and in terms of anything else that’s happening, not on my radar.”

The persistent interrogation regarding Dier’s absence clearly irked Postecoglou, who, despite guiding his team to the FA Cup fourth round, vehemently expressed his feelings towards the inquiries.

Spurs’ upcoming fixture sees them face Manchester United at Old Trafford on January 14 in a pivotal league encounter.
