Postecoglou impact shows as Tottenham star set a new record
When Ange Postecoglou gives Pedro Porro a chance to play, he sets a new record.
The game between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United got pretty rough, and in the end: a draw. United had two leads but lost both of them. Based on how they’re playing right now, Spurs should have taken advantage of United’s mistakes, but alas!
Pedro Porro, a right back for Tottenham, played very well. In order to set a record, the Spaniard was able to help Richarlison score the first goal. Stats from Squawka Football show that Pedro Porro has now set up more goals in 2023–24 than any other Tottenham defender has ever done in a single Premier League season.
The 24-year-old played a big role in both offence and defence for his boss. The tweet from Squawka Football also said, “Ange has created a monster,” referring to how much Porro has grown under Postecoglou.
Because of the tie, Tottenham will stay in fifth place, while Manchester will move up one spot to seventh. But they have played one more game than Brighton, who is in eighth place.
However, Pedro Porro is one of the most valued players at Tottenham, even though he is not very tall or has many special skills. The Spanish defender has been through a lot before he found his place on a team.
Porro’s first game as an adult was with Girona, where he stayed for two years. Manchester City, a big team in the Premier League, bought the young player from Girona in 2019. He did, however, spend a season on loan at Real Valladolid. The La Liga team didn’t use their buying choice, which meant Porro had to leave their team.
The next place he went was Portugal after being moved to Sporting CP by his home club. Spurs signed him on the last day of the winter transfer window in 2023. The defender didn’t have a great start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and many people didn’t like him.
This time, though, things are different because Porro has fully won his manager’s trust. This season, Pedro Porro has started 20 of Ange’s 21 games.
