Sergio Reguilón has reached a critical point in his career at Tottenham Hotspur, where he has found himself completely sidelined under Ange Postecoglou’s management.

Reports indicate that a move in the January transfer window has become essential to revive his stagnating career. The Spanish left-back has not played a single minute for Spurs this season, despite returning to North London after various loan spells.

Once regarded as a rising star during his time at Real Madrid under Santiago Solari, Reguilón’s early promise seems like a distant memory. He played a pivotal role in Sevilla’s Europa League triumph and earned caps for the Spanish national team, achievements that showcased his potential at the highest level.

However, his career trajectory has since taken a downward turn, marked by inconsistency and a lack of stability.

This decision mirrored the treatment of other players such as Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso, who eventually departed the club. Unlike them, Reguilón opted to remain at Tottenham, determined to fight for a spot in the squad. Unfortunately, his persistence has not paid off, as he remains completely out of favor.

Adding to the peculiarity of his situation is Tottenham’s limited options at left-back. Destiny Udogie is currently the only natural player in that position, with Ben Davies occasionally filling in as needed.
