PL player ‘open to move’ to Tottenham after Kudus deal
Tottenham Hotspur appear ready to make a bold move in the transfer market as they pursue Brentford forward Yoane Wissa during this summer’s window.
Despite enduring a lackluster domestic campaign that saw them finish 17th in the Premier League, Spurs secured Champions League football after clinching the Europa League title with a memorable win over Manchester United.
Now, with continental competition on the horizon, the club is seeking to reinforce its attacking options, and Wissa has emerged as a top target.
According to a report by BBC Sport, Brentford have already been informed of Tottenham’s interest in the DR Congo international, who is believed to be open to a move within London.
Wissa previously attracted serious interest from Nottingham Forest during the January window, but the proposed transfer never materialized. A potential switch to Spurs would reunite the 28-year-old with his former manager Thomas Frank, who recently took over the reins at Tottenham following the departure of Ange Postecoglou.
Brentford, however, are not eager to let go of another one of their key players so easily. Having already parted ways with their manager Frank, captain Christian Norgaard to Arsenal, and goalkeeper Mark Flekken to Bayer Leverkusen, the club is keen to maintain some stability within its ranks.

Wissa’s departure would represent yet another blow to a squad that has already undergone significant change in a short period of time.
The 28-year-old was a crucial contributor last season, finishing the campaign with 20 goals to his name—a career-best tally that underlines his growing influence in English football.
Although Brentford would prefer to keep Wissa, the situation surrounding his contract could become a key factor in negotiations. His current deal expires next summer, and while the club holds an option to extend it by an additional year, the looming risk of losing him on a free transfer might tempt them to entertain serious offers.
For Tottenham, this opens the door to secure a proven Premier League attacker at a reasonable price, especially when considering Wissa’s versatility and familiarity with Frank’s tactical setup.
Complicating the situation further is the concurrent interest Manchester United have in another Brentford star—Bryan Mbeumo. The Red Devils are actively trying to bring the Cameroon international to Old Trafford and have already had two bids rejected.
Brentford remain firm on their stance, and although discussions are ongoing, they are unlikely to approve the sale of both Wissa and Mbeumo in the same window.
The club’s reluctance to dismantle its attacking core entirely makes it increasingly probable that only one of the two will be allowed to leave this summer.
Frank had initially expressed a desire to bring Mbeumo to north London, but the winger has made it clear that his preference lies with Manchester United. He has signaled that he would only consider a move to Old Trafford, and if Brentford and United fail to reach an agreement, Mbeumo is content to remain with the Bees for another season.
This scenario places added urgency on Tottenham’s pursuit of Wissa, who represents a more realistic acquisition and a chance for Spurs to deliver an unexpected twist in the transfer dealings of their Premier League rivals.
By securing Wissa, Tottenham would not only strengthen their attacking line ahead of a demanding season in Europe but also potentially derail Manchester United’s transfer plans.
The forward’s experience, goal-scoring prowess, and tactical compatibility with Frank make him an ideal fit for Spurs, especially in a system that will demand speed, flexibility, and a high work rate in the final third.
As the summer window continues to unfold, Wissa’s next move could have a ripple effect across the top tier of English football, with both Spurs and United watching Brentford’s decision with great interest.
