‘Are going to suffer’ – Paul Merson predicts Tottenham vs Everton score
Paul Merson predicted Ange Postecoglou’s team to defeat Everton while acknowledging that Tottenham Hotspur will find it difficult to function without players like Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, and Son Heung-min in January.
After struggling through November and the beginning of this month, Tottenham has finally turned things around with back-to-back wins against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.
If the Lilywhites defeat the Toffees at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and win all three points, they will move up to fourth position and within striking distance of the Champions League berths.
Spurs, meanwhile, will be facing a team that is riding high after winning their previous four Premier League games in a row under Sean Dyche’s squad.
Merson believes Spurs will defeat Everton
Merson thinks that despite Everton’s strong momentum going into the match, the home team will just have too much firepower for the Merseyside club.
According to the former midfielder for Arsenal, Everton is dominating the Premier League, he told Sportskeeda. It was a regrettable midweek Carabao Cup quarterfinal defeat to Fulham.
“Tottenham is now firing their frontline as well. Both Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski are doing well. Son Heung-min is experiencing somewhat of a comeback.
“The departure of some of their greatest talents for the AFC Asian Cup and AFCON next month will hurt the Spurs. Still, I believe they have enough firepower to win.
“Despite The Toffees’ recent improvement, I believe Tottenham will use their home advantage to win and take all three points against them.”
Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Everton is the prediction.

As Tottenham wears out, Everton will want to play close in the first half and take advantage of the gaps that open up in the second half. For Spurs, an early goal on Sunday will greatly simplify their task.
