£25M player could now leave Tottenham imminently; agents in London to fast track move to Europe
The departure of a player signed during the Mauricio Pochettino era may signal the start of Tottenham’s transformational summer.
Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Spurs, is eager to get started this summer and wants to see a number of players come and go.
A crucial factor in Tottenham’s summertime plans will be the selling or transfer of some players who are just not part of Ange’s plans.
And it appears that one of those players may be en route to La Liga, based on stories that have surfaced from Spain today.
Expected to depart Tottenham following agency discussions in London is Giovani Lo Celso.
As they attempt to persuade Spurs to sell, Real Betis is reportedly attempting to sign Lo Celso this summer, according to a report from the Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo.
Agents and representatives for Lo Celso are rumored to have visited London lately in an attempt to close a transaction.
But Tottenham is rumored to have turned down the Spanish team because of their demand for about £25 million for the Argentine midfielder.
However, the same report claims that Betis are optimistic that the price would drop because both the player and Spurs wish to part ways with Lo Celso.
Therefore, it’s possible that Lo Celso will arrive soon to begin a significant summer of change at Tottenham.
Lo Celso is an experienced international midfielder who Spurs originally paid over £40 million for, but he just doesn’t seem to fit into Postecoglou’s scheme of things.
Under the Australian, Lo Celso made just two starts for Spurs during the season, and toward the close of the campaign, he only made late-night appearances.
Therefore, the midfield player needs to go on and start over, and returning to familiar ground can be the perfect solution.
Spurs just need to sell, and the £25 million asking price will likely come down—unless the Saudi Pro League decides it wants to join.
