Not a good sign: Limping Tottenham star faces Significant chance of new injury

Dr. Rajpal Brar says that Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven could hurt his hamstring again even though he is back in action.

The expert on injuries says that hamstring problems have the biggest risk of re-injury, so the club physios will be keeping a close eye on him.

When he came back to play against Manchester United on January 14, the 22-year-old walked off before the end of the first half. He quickly calmed fans’ fears by telling Sky Sports that it was just a cramp in his leg. [Independent]

Dr. Brar, a physical therapist and sports scientist, talked about the current state of play with van de Ven exclusively for Tottenham News. He said, “There are big chances of reinjury because footballers with hamstring injuries have the highest chance of reinjury, so there’s always that chance.”

“He limped off the field in his first game back after being hurt, which is never a good sign.”

“However, he played down any injury worries soon after, which is a good sign, but the club physios will still keep a close eye on him.”

“If he’s not already, I expect him to be back to 100%, but one game back might not be enough to get him there.”

The last time the Netherlands international played for Spurs in a league game was in November, before the game against United.

That’s when Ange Postecoglou’s team went ahead against Chelsea at home, but they lost 4-1 with nine men.

This season, the 22-year-old has played 12 times in the Premier League for Spurs and scored one goal.

He also played the whole game while watching his team lose to Fulham on penalties in the Carabao Cup back in August.
