Ange will rue rotten luck as Outstanding 91% Tottenham ace confirmed out for season

Ange Postecoglou has received confirmation that Manor Solomon will not feature for Tottenham Hotspur again this season, shedding some light on the attacker’s prolonged absence from the squad.

Despite joining Spurs as a free agent last summer, Solomon’s playing time has been severely limited due to injury, featuring in just six matches across all competitions, with half of those appearances as a starter.

The 24-year-old Israeli last took the field in Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on September 30, sidelined since then due to a knee injury.

Amid inquiries about Solomon’s anticipated return, his agent Shlomi Ben Ezra conveyed unfortunate news to Israeli outlet One on March 26, stating, “Bad luck has ended his season, unfortunately.

But it is better that he arrives ready for next season. He underwent a small operation 10 days ago for a lot of improvements.”

Ben Ezra indicated that Solomon is expected to resume training in approximately six weeks, aligning with the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign.

While Solomon’s absence may be disappointing for Postecoglou in the short term, it poses a minor setback given the glimpses of promise he demonstrated earlier in the season.

Despite limited playing time, Solomon showcased his playmaking abilities by contributing two assists in 198 Premier League minutes, boasting the highest assist rate (0.91 per 90 minutes) among Spurs players, albeit aided by his reduced game time.

Additionally, Solomon leads Tottenham players in expected assists (0.38) and ranks third in shots per 90 minutes (3.18), underlining his offensive impact.

Despite primarily featuring as a left-winger, Solomon’s proficiency in ball retention is evident, boasting an impressive pass accuracy rate of 91%, akin to that of Giovanni Lo Celso.

While not prolific in dribbling past opponents, Solomon’s defensive contributions were evident in his performances, highlighted by his two tackles and an interception during a standout display in Tottenham’s 5-2 victory over Burnley on September 2.
