Levy laughing as Tottenham Ridiculous matchday revenue figures shared

Daniel Levy will be laughing all the way to the bank after it emerged Tottenham are second in the Premier League’s matchday revenue league.

In the most recent figures from the 2022-23 season, shared by finance expert Kieran Maguire on X [19 May], Spurs are beaten only by Chelsea – just.

Tottenham brought in £1,911 per fan across the campaign, it is revealed, which is just one pound less than Chelsea registered.

Manchester United slip down matchday revenue list

Manchester United, so often top of this list in the past, were third with £1,848, followed by Arsenal (£1,705) and then Liverpool (£1,504).

For context, Nottingham Forest brought in just £379 per supporter as the side bottom of this list.

The huge increase in capacity since moving to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium plays the biggest factor in Spurs now regularly being in the higher echelons of this list.

However, matchgoing supporters will not exactly celebrate this news as they are the ones paying eye-watering sums for food, drink and tickets.

Tottenham matchday revenue figures in full

In terms of the figures per match, again shared by Maguire, Spurs brought in £70.78 per fan. That is a decrease on the £71.23 from 2021-22.

The difference is minimal, though, and it ensures Tottenham and Chelsea remain very much the teams to beat in this particular category.

What should be said is Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge has a capacity of around 20,000 fewer than Spurs’ ground, so they really are fleecing fans.

These figures, combined with news of more entertainment events at the ground, means Levy is certainly doing his part to bring in funds.

Indeed, the club are estimated to be making somewhere between £1.5m and £2m from these types of events.

Ultimately, all supporters care about is that this money is reinvested back into the squad in what should hopefully be a successful 2024-25.
