Ledley reunited with Kickstart FC during Training Centre visit

Ledley King, former Tottenham Hotspur star, recently reunited with players from Kickstart FC, an esteemed football club and academy based in Karnataka, Bengaluru, during a training session held at Tottenham’s Training Centre in Enfield on Thursday, June 20.

Tottenham Hotspur established a partnership with Kickstart FC last year, aiming to support the development of local coaches and players in India. Ledley King, along with fellow club legend Ossie Ardiles, previously visited India as part of this initiative to engage with Kickstart players, fans, and local community projects.

Throughout this week, Tottenham’s Global Football Development Programme conducted eight technical training sessions for Kickstart FC players. These sessions included interactive workshops focusing on health, nutrition, strength and conditioning, and leadership skills.

Ledley King participated in one of these 90-minute sessions, which featured drills emphasizing attacking and defending techniques for 10 players from the Kickstart Academy.

Expressing his thoughts on the training experience, Ledley King remarked, “This is a great opportunity for these young players. It is their first time in England, and I have been struck by how eager they have been to learn and get as much information as they can.

I really enjoyed seeing some of the players I met in India again, and it was a pleasure to host them at our Training Centre and give them some advice on what goes into becoming a professional player.”

Laxman Bhattarai, Head Coach at Kickstart FC, acknowledged the value of Tottenham’s facilities and coaching methods, stating, “The small details they have learned from being at Tottenham Hotspur is going to help them a lot. They are very blessed to be training at these amazing facility.

Shekar Rajan, Founder & Chairman at Kickstart FC, expressed gratitude for the programme, highlighting its impact on the young players’ development.

He emphasized the significance of Tottenham Hotspur’s support in helping Kickstart FC achieve their aspiration of becoming one of the best football academies.

Looking ahead, Chris Acaster, Head of Global Coaching for Tottenham Hotspur, reaffirmed the club’s commitment to the partnership, stating, “Our team are very much looking forward to visiting Bengaluru later this month to continue to help develop football talent in the region. This is another significant moment in the growth of our Global Football Development Programme.”
