He’ll be allowed to leave: Club to now sell £35M player to Tottenham in January

The speculation around Conor Gallagher’s potential move from Chelsea to Tottenham Hotspur continues to gain momentum as discussions persist in the final hours of this transfer window.

Gallagher stands out as a prominent target on Tottenham’s list, following the noteworthy acquisitions of Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner.

The desire to bring Gallagher to Tottenham is evident from both Spurs and manager Ange Postecoglou, especially amid the uncertainty surrounding the player’s future at Chelsea.

As of now, there’s no clear indication that Gallagher is inclined to leave Stamford Bridge, and Mauricio Pochettino has expressed a desire to retain his services as well.

Addressing the situation on the FIVE YouTube channel, journalist Ben Jacobs reveals that Chelsea is open to selling Gallagher if the right offer is presented.

According to Jacobs, Chelsea has set a price for Gallagher and would entertain bids. He explains, “If the right number is hit, then there’s a very realistic possibility that Chelsea decide to cash in on Conor Gallagher. But, he isn’t actively for sale, so he isn’t transfer-listed or being touted to clubs. But if a club comes and hits Chelsea’s valuation, then he’ll be allowed to leave.

Gallagher can still say no, but Chelsea’s policy is that if there’s less than two years on the contract, they’ll consider and listen to offers.”

Given the absence of a new contract on the horizon, if Spurs were to table an offer, Chelsea might consider accepting it. Gallagher retains the option to decline, but the dynamics suggest a potential transfer.

Reflecting on past attempts, Jacobs notes, “They (Spurs) tried for Conor Gallagher at the end of the last window for around £35m. They thought anything above that number was too high, but Gallagher’s form has improved, so the number’s going to go up. We’ll have to wait and see if Spurs are prepared to pay that sort of money, and if they are, Chelsea will listen very seriously.”

In light of Spurs’ promising position under Postecoglou, securing top-four contention, and the impactful signings of Dragusin and Werner, adding Gallagher would be a significant statement.

Jacobs suggests that now, more than ever, is the right time for Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to fully support the manager’s ambitions and initiate the move for Gallagher while the opportunity remains available.
