Ivan Toney could be preparing to take matters into his own hands as he looks to force a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
The prolific English striker, who left the Premier League in the summer of 2024 to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli, is now eager to return to England, hoping to reignite his chances of representing his country at the upcoming World Cup.
Toney has made a name for himself as one of the most consistent goal-scorers of his generation. During his time with Brentford, he developed under the guidance of Thomas Frank and became one of the league’s most feared forwards.
His 20-goal haul in his last Premier League season showcased his lethal finishing, physical strength, and ability to lead the line effectively. Now 29, he remains at the peak of his powers and believes that a move back to England could revive his international hopes.
Reports suggest that Tottenham are among the clubs showing serious interest in signing him this winter. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is said to admire Toney’s playing style, viewing him as a perfect addition to a squad that still hasn’t fully replaced Harry Kane.

Toney’s power, composure, and leadership would add another dimension to Tottenham’s attack. However, his current club, Al-Ahli, have made it clear that they are unwilling to part ways with their star forward in January, despite growing interest from several Premier League sides.
Toney’s record in Saudi Arabia has been nothing short of remarkable. Since joining Al-Ahli, he has scored an impressive 41 goals in just 61 appearances, proving that his sharpness and eye for goal remain intact.
Yet, despite his success abroad, Toney is reportedly growing restless and is eager to test himself once again at the highest level of English football. With Tottenham, Everton, and West Ham all expressing interest, the race for his signature is heating up rapidly.
Former Tottenham scout Bryan King recently claimed that if Toney has the choice, the outcome would be “a no-contest.” Speaking to Tottenham News, King expressed his belief that Toney’s desire to return to England and play in the Premier League would make Spurs his natural destination.
“If I were him, I’d be looking to get out of Saudi Arabia in January, especially if a permanent move is possible,” King said. “He and his agents should be demanding it. He could always go back to Saudi Arabia after the World Cup if necessary, but right now, he needs to be playing regularly in England.”

King also stressed the importance of Premier League football for Toney’s World Cup ambitions. Thomas Tuchel, who is preparing his England squad for next summer’s tournament, is reportedly looking for an in-form striker to provide competition for Kane.
While Tuchel has several attacking options such as Ollie Watkins, Jarrod Bowen, and Marcus Rashford none of them fit naturally into a central striker role in the way Toney does.
Toney’s potential arrival at Tottenham would therefore serve two purposes: strengthening Postecoglou’s attacking options and giving Tuchel another reliable striker to consider for the national team.
With Kane now thriving abroad, Toney could become the ideal understudy or even the long-term replacement for Spurs’ former talisman.
Sources close to the player suggest that Toney is growing increasingly frustrated by Al-Ahli’s stance and may soon press for the move himself.
His camp, including his agents, are believed to be exploring every avenue to secure a Premier League return, knowing that time is running out to impress Tuchel before the World Cup squad is finalized.
If Tottenham succeed in landing Toney, it could prove to be one of the most decisive moves of the January transfer window. The striker’s proven record, experience across all levels of English football, and relentless hunger to perform make him a valuable addition to any top-flight team.
Whether Al-Ahli will stand firm or bow to the player’s growing pressure remains to be seen, but one thing is clear Toney’s ambition to return to the Premier League and join Tottenham is stronger than ever.
At this stage, all eyes are on January. If Spurs manage to pull off the deal, it could reshape both their season and Toney’s international future in dramatic fashion.
