There may be a chance for Tottenham to get Antonio Nusa again, according to Paul Robinson. This is because Brentford got in the way of their trade talks.
Football London said on January 21 that Spurs had “stolen a march” on Chelsea by going ahead with a £30 million deal for the Club Brugge winger, but the Bees were able to beat them to it. On January 30, Sky Sports said that Spurs’ move was “stalling.”
Robinson thinks the youth is a “quality” player who would be a great addition to Ange Postecoglou’s team. However, he thinks he may have chosen Brentford because he would have had more chances to play because Spurs’ scoring choices are so good.
The Sky Sports commentator says it would be a “big coup” if Brentford beat out Tottenham and Newcastle to sign Nusa. However, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, and captain Son Heung-min were all signed this month, making it impossible to move Nusa.
The chance to make one last late push for their player seems to have come up again, but the 18-year-old still has a long way to go before he can play in the starting lineup.
Robinson told Tottenham News first, “Nusa is a great young player, and he’s been rumoured to be coming to the Premier League for a while now.”
“They were interested in Tottenham.” There was talk that Newcastle was also interested, but we all know what’s going on with them when it comes to FOBT.
“People in Brentford have always liked him.” Since they joined the Premier League, I think one thing they’ve had trouble with is making the next level of deals, having to compete with teams like Newcastle and Tottenham for the best players in Europe.
“If they were able to get him to sign, it’s a big win for them since Tottenham and Newcastle also want him.”
“Maybe it’s because the player wants to play football in the Premier League—look at Spurs and Newcastle’s teams.”
The best place for Tottenham to hit is from the wide areas, which is where he is.
“We know that Timo Werner has come in. Brennan Johnson is there with them. Kulusevski is there with them. Son will be back from the Asian Cup soon. Richarlison is already there.
“With the talent Spurs has, you wouldn’t necessarily drop into that team and play. He may have chosen Brentford instead, if they can get the deal done, because he wants to play football instead of waiting and being a bit-part player.”
The Brentford deal may have been held up for some reason. If what we think is true, then it does leave the door open for others.
“He would be a great addition to Tottenham, but I’m not sure if he would be able to start right away.”
