Danny Rose, who made 214 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur before leaving in 2021, maintains that he harbors no ill feelings toward the club despite a challenging end to his time there.
After a 14-year spell with Spurs, during which he became a key player, Rose found himself sidelined before eventually moving to Watford on a free transfer.
Reflecting on his departure, Rose emphasized that his experience was not unique at Tottenham, as he had witnessed other players face similar treatment.
He acknowledged the club’s operational style, referencing how players like David Bentley, Benoit Assou-Ekoto, and Vincent Janssen also found themselves on the periphery during their time at Spurs. Rose, who joined Tottenham from Leeds United in 2007, expressed no surprise at how his situation unfolded.
Rose shared that he had a candid meeting with Tottenham’s chairman before the 2020-2021 season, where he made it clear he intended to see out his contract.
Understanding the club’s approach, Rose anticipated being relegated to training with the under-23s, a scenario that played out as expected.
Despite this, Rose feels he honored his contract and holds no resentment toward the club. He continues to maintain a cordial relationship with Tottenham, occasionally attending games and staying in touch with the chairman, who has been responsive to his requests for favors.
For Rose, the situation was simply part of the business of football. He remains connected to Tottenham, often visiting the club and keeping in contact with some of the staff still there.
