I think he’s tired: Pundit thinks one Spurs star is getting frustrated with Postecoglou’s system

Perry Groves, a former Arsenal wide, thinks that James Maddison is getting more and more unhappy with his job at Tottenham because the fullbacks often end up playing in the same areas as the attacking midfielder.

Tottenham almost played exactly the same way at St. James’ Park on Saturday as they did at Craven Cottage last month.

Even though they had 73% of the ball, the away team didn’t make many chances and got caught off guard several times, losing 4-0 in an embarrassing way.

Tottenham’s attackers ran out of ideas in the final third, even though they had a lot of the ball. Maddison in particular had a hard time making an effect on the game.

The player was finally taken off in the 81st minute to make room for Giovani Lo Celso. He was clearly furious as he walked off the pitch.

Is it hard for James Maddison to work in Postecoglou’s system?

Observing the England player’s body language, Groves thought that he was upset because Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie often occupied the half-spaces, making him less useful.

“I’ve seen one player at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium get angry when he’s been dragged off a couple of times,” the expert said on the Premier League All Access show.

“He should have been kicked off and given two yellow cards.” That makes you angry because Udogie and Porro are on opposite sides, making the middle area too crowded, and James Maddison, who is the 10, doesn’t have the freedom he needs as the 10.

“And even yesterday, when he was replaced, you could tell he was angry.” He is clearly upset that his team lost, but you can tell he is getting angry.

Leads to Web Opinion

To put it another way, Maddison was upset about how he and the team were playing, not about being taken off or about his place in Postecoglou’s scheme. You would want your guys to be mad after a game like that.
