‘He will leave the club’: Fabrizio Romano confirms £55m player will leave Tottenham this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have been exceptionally active in the summer transfer window, with Ange Postecoglou looking to reshape the squad for the upcoming season.

Among the various players linked with the club, Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey has emerged as a significant target.

According to renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham made a bold player-plus-cash offer to acquire Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa.

This bid included a £20 million payment and the inclusion of Giovani Lo Celso. However, Aston Villa promptly rejected the proposal.

Tottenham’s attempt to sign Ramsey echoes a similar strategy they employed years ago to acquire Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

In that instance, Daniel Levy offered £3 million plus Josh Onomah, a bid that Villa also rejected. Grealish’s subsequent rise to prominence validated Villa’s decision, underscoring the risks of underestimating player value.

This summer, Tottenham have made several key moves. They have re-signed Timo Werner on loan and allowed players like Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga, and Ivan Perisic to depart. These moves reflect Postecoglou’s vision to revitalize the squad and prepare for a competitive season ahead.

Lo Celso, who joined Tottenham from Real Betis in a £55 million deal, has struggled to secure a regular starting position.

Despite his talent, he has spent much of his time out on loan and now appears set to leave the club. Romano confirms that Lo Celso is exploring options, with Betis and Unai Emery’s interest noted.

With Aston Villa rejecting the initial bid for Ramsey, Tottenham must decide their next move. The club could consider returning with an improved offer, perhaps increasing the cash component alongside Lo Celso.

This would test Villa’s resolve and demonstrate Tottenham’s commitment to strengthening their midfield.

Acquiring Jacob Ramsey could significantly bolster Tottenham’s squad. Ramsey’s versatility, creativity, and work rate make him an ideal fit for Postecoglou’s system. His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively would provide Tottenham with a dynamic presence in the midfield.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Jacob Ramsey highlights their ambitious approach in the transfer market. While the initial bid was rejected, the club’s willingness to invest in high-quality players signals a promising future under Postecoglou.
