Ange frustration as he confirms 100% ace still far from full recovery

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou will be bored of updating media on Manor Solomon’s injury status.

By the time Solomon returns to first-team play, he will have missed around half of the 2023/24 season.

His last Spurs appearance was on Saturday, September 30, when he came off the bench in a 2-1 victory against Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Shortly after his cameo performance against the Reds, it was disclosed that the 24-year-old underwent knee surgery (BBC Sport, October 6), and he has not been seen since.

More than four months have gone, and Postecoglou’s most recent statements indicate that the Israel international is still some distance away from returning.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Spurs’ match against Brighton on Saturday, 10 February, the Australian was asked about Solomon and responded (via Football London, 9 February): “He had another procedure on Monday on his knee, nothing major but still looking at another two or three weeks.”

Solomon’s wait continues at Tottenham
Since Solomon’s injury, it seems that almost every other first-team star at Tottenham has been hurt, suspended, or left the club for international service and returned before the forward could make his recovery.

According to Postecoglou’s schedule, Solomon might return in March, extending his absence beyond five months.

Just a few weeks ago, there was speculation that he may return for the FA Cup fourth-round match against Manchester City on Friday, January 26, but it is now evident that this was a very premature assumption.

Spurs fans may not remember it now, but Solomon had a bright start at Tottenham.

He came off the bench against Liverpool and completed 100% of his passes, three of which were crucial, while also winning two of his three ground duels (SofaScore).

Solomon was not a regular starter under Postecoglou, but he appeared in five of the club’s first seven Premier League games, demonstrating that he may be a valuable alternative.

When he did start against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday 2 September, he contributed two assists in a 5-2 victory and made five vital passes out of 91 in a superb display.

With four important passes against Sheffield United in a 2-1 victory on Saturday, September 16, it is evident that the former Fulham loanee can be a valuable creative asset for Spurs.

Solomon will be eager to make an impression upon his comeback for Tottenham.

While dissatisfaction will rise about how long it takes to get him back on the field, when he does, he has the potential to be a game changer in North London between now and the end of the season.
